Loud noise during operation

Noise is usually caused by the accidental entry of hard objects, such as a spoon or bottle cap. To correct this, turn off the machine and water. After the disposer stops, remove objects out of it with a pair of long pliers.

If a D-series disposer is stuck

D-series products might not work due to the entry of hard objects. Before fixing a jammed FWD, turn off the disposer and water. Move the waste and object, then take out the stuck materials and check the machine with a long clamp. Allow the disposer motor to cool for 5 minutes and lightly push the red reset button on the bottom of the disposer to make it works. If the motor remains inoperative, check the fuse box for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuses.

If an A-series disposer is stuck

A-series products might not work due to the entry of hard objects. Before fixing a jammed FWD, turn off the disposer and water. Move the waste and object, then take out the stuck materials and check the machine with a long clamp. Insert your wrench into a small hole at the bottom of the disposer, and then move the wrench back and forth until it can revolve freely for more than one circle. Allow the disposer motor to cool for 5 minutes and lightly push the red reset button on the bottom of the disposer to make it works. If the motor remains inoperative, check the fuse box for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuses.

Water drains too slowly

If the water drains too slowly, it is an indication that a part of drain lines is clogged. Use a plunger to get rid of the clog.

Water leaking from the top of the disposer
  • If sink and disposer do not connect well, please tighten the plastic mounting ring or combine with plumber's putty.
  • If bearings ring is not screwed down, tighten it.
  • If silencer gasket is not assembled well, please reinstall it carefully
Odor from the disposer

An odor from the disposer is usually a sign of grease and food buildup, caused by insufficient water flow during and after disposer use. To clean disposer:

  • Turn off disposer and disconnect power supply.
  • Reach through sink opening and clean underside of splash baffle and inside upper lip of the grind chamber with a scouring pad.
  • Place the stopper in the sink opening and fill the sink halfway with warm water.
  • Mix 1/4 cup baking soda with water. Turn disposer on and remove the stopper from sink to wash away loose particles.
  • Press the splash baffle down so that the air remaining in the disposer can be given off and then thoroughly scour the disposer inside. Clean out the remaining waste and the baking soda will freshen the scent in the disposer.
  • You can also pour cleanser into ice cube and then place the ice cubes into the disposer chamber to be crushed. This way, the parts inside the chamber are cleaned.
